The training was based on the need of APRUE (Agence Nationale pour la Promotion et la Rationalisation de l’Utilisation de l’Energie), the Algerian National Energy Agency, to qualifying Algerian private sector consultants and the Ministry of Energy's staff to be able to carry energy audits in the building sector and to train the trainers for providing further national training and follow up.

The training took place from 29 January to 2 February, 2012, during which basic concepts of energy audit was communicated to practitioners with a good knowledge in engineering subjects.

MED-ENEC will deliver such training to other beneficiary countries interested in MED-ENEC’s support. Such training among others can evolve in the near future into a regional certification program in cooperation with regional entities under the umbrella of the council of the Arab Electricity Ministers of the League of Arab States.
